“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

I am a recipient of SSDI and SSI and haven’t filed since my children were born so there is no record of my dependents. I have a 17-year-old son whose Birthday is 09/2002 and has been totally dependent upon me myself all his life aside from the medical insurance and $16 of monthly food stamps he receives from government assistance. If by law I must provide him with food, shelter and clothing until he is 18 years of age. Why is he not eligible for a stimulus check? This is DISCRIMINATION!!! And that is illegal!

A14. You are not required to file a tax return and will automatically receive a $1,200 Payment if you received Social Security retirement, SSDI, survivors benefits, SSI, Railroad Retirement benefits, or VA Compensation and Pension (C&P) benefits in 2019. You do not need to contact the IRS, Social Security Administration (SSA), the Railroad Retirement Board (RRB) or Veterans Affairs. The IRS will use the information from your 2019 benefits to generate a Payment to you if you did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019. You will receive your Payment as a direct deposit or by mail, just as you would normally receive your federal benefits.

I fit these categories AND have direct deposit. I should have received my deposit (EIP) by now.

I’m being told NOT to do anything, but not doing anything hasn’t gotten me the EIP. There has to be another option for such individuals, please help!

My father and mother are elderly and has not received their Economic Impact Relief funds as of today, May 13, 2020. I am their Representative Payee and wondering if this is the reason why they have not received their stimulus funds. Everyday my father has been asking about it. I issue payments for their monthly bills and fill out an annual report as their Representative Payee. Please contact me at kseyink@gmail.com. Thank you

My wife and I both receive social security and from what we’ve been reading the IRS will work with SS to get our direct deposit information and direct deposit the stimulus money into our account. I check the IRS website today and it said it was mailing checks to us, why not direct deposit?

looks as if some people on SSDI will be placed in a class all there own, reason.’A representative payee’.Assigned too a majority of people on social security disability. A representative payee, or substitute payee, is a person who acts as the receiver of United States Social Security Disability or Supplemental Security Income for a person who is not fully capable of managing their own benefits, i.e. cannot be their own payee. The representative payee is expected to assist the person with money management, along with providing protection from financial abuse and victimization. People Who where assigned payees ‎and placed on hold while the IRS and SSA figure out how they will get paid. They are worried beneficiaries will not recieve there economic stimulus payment of 2020 because there representative would be the one”s: receiving there payment.Seriously there’s no trying to figure out anything if the IRS would have just paid all SSDI beneficiaries including those with payee’s. Direct deposit or by mail, just as you would normally receive your federal benefits.‎Think all you like but there’s just one way around this ,’Representive payee’ problem.Send us our Stimulus checks. INFORMATION SOURCE: https://www.ssa.gov. economic Impact payment/Information about Representative payees.Updated May 6. Not quite sure why the IRS is holding our payment everyone under SSDI with a Payee. The IRS did not even inform us about this on there webpage. Not Right too keep us in the dark.
