“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

I’m on SSDI have been for years my direct deposit info you have that’s how I get my SSDI, and here it is may 13 and I haven’t gotten that payment yet and cant even find out anything about it, this is bullshit at best and that’s putting it lightly

Not sure if you live in USA or have a USA bank account, I am. Like you only I am ssa pension, they are still processing the ssi checks and sending as of may 12 so keep checking

The media said that ssi recipients are suppose to get their stimulus payments via direct deposit today. Check my bank. Still no stimulus. My family members who also get social security got their payment almost 3 weeks ago. I wonder if the IRS screwed up lost my check somewhere. They haven’t even made it clear what time frame ssi recipients can expect a direct deposit of stimulus payments. I have not used the non filers tools because of technical issues and I was told payment would automatic for ssi recipients that no action was required.

Most got their stimulus today, almost everyone I knew that was waiting, so there might be some problem. If you get your regular monthly payment sent to direct deposit, then that is where it should go, if not, you will probably get a check in the mail.

Hi Kenneth, thank you for your question. Please visit the IRS Economic Impact Payments Information Center to answer your questions about eligibility, payment amounts, what to expect, when to expect it and more. Hopefully this information is helpful.

I receive SSDI/Survivors, I have direct deposit, I get a 1099 SSA form each year, I am not a dependent and no one claims me. I’m not required to file with the IRS. I was told repeatedly that ”You do not have to do anything” to get your EIP”. Yet, I HAVE NOT received my payment. What am I suppose to do now? Please someone give specific guidance to my issue here.
