“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

I’m over 65 and retired. I have a 28 month old daughter (she is a US citizen and has a US passport & social security card) who receives SSI direct deposit each month. How can I find out where her stimulus is. It has not been deposited yet into her account.
I’m not allowed to put her on my taxes because of her SSI payments. Currently the address and bank deposit is in the Philippines untill we can leave back to the states, the country is in a lockdown. Once we get back then it will change to the states again. Her account must be accessed in person only, hence the moving it to the Philippines then back to the states while we are visiting here.
    I’ve received mine already.

I am wondering why my son who has cerebral palsy and totally disabled who has received social security from his fathers death benefits for a number of years, if he will be receiving a covid 19 supplement check. I have talked with several families in the Houston area, whose child with same situation has received a check, but my son, Thomas W. Nichols has not received a check

My friend SS retired read in late March early April we had to send IRS bank info to get stimulus. Couldn’t do it on computer cause it wouldn’t take it. Mailed paper return with bank info. Then friend read not to file. What now? Do we get stimulus soon or are we last to get it now? Please respond. Did all we were told to do as fast as we could. Desperate for stimulus. Life depends on getting it now. Even next week might be too late to save us. Please respond. Thank you.
