Commissioner of Social Security Shares Update about COVID-19 Economic Impact Payments for Beneficiaries

“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.
The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.
Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

I am a disabled senior that receives social security retirement earned benefits! I reside in a low income senior housing complex. I get no housing assistance and my rent is now at 102% of that income! I have been waiting and waiting for my Economic Impact payment of $1,200.00 which I will put towards May rent! WHEN WILL I GET MY DIRECT DEPOSIT Cares Act payment?
I have read that Trump is withholding those payments! Some say it’s a red vs blue state for Trump! Some say it depends on the governor’s either kissing up to Trump or making waves!
Some say he is allowing excessive interest to accumulate which Trump will either pocket, put towards his WALL, or bribe voters to cast their ballot for him.

PROBLEM – IRS says for anyone one
SSI,SSD ect. there is NO INFORMATION.
I get direct deposit into my Bank.
since 2011.I get the SSA-1099 every
January.. I have no children under 17
years old.
So Why haven’t I gotten my money?
How are we to find out even if money
was sent? How do I know the IRS
didnt mess up on my Bank account
numbers if we can’t get any information? I have read that they have had some people money given
to someone else account because
someone typed in account number
wrong. Even just one number like
if yours end in example – 3456 and
they typed in 3457 instead you will not get your money.!!!
why is IRS not giving info out to people.? you can’t call they don’t answer or closed.

To the people who have been leaving comments telling people if they would take the time and read the IRS site it will answer all their questions I have been reading many of the Gov sites as well as the IRS site and to you I say its all BS.I was told my stimulas would be in today the 24th yet here it is the 24th and what a surprise its not there.And from all the comments I am not alone.I want just one simple answer How much more BS to we have to put up with.
