“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

It seems like the first round of payments may be winding down even though some of us on SSDI, WITH AUTO-DEPOSIT, have yet to see any of the much needed stimulus money. I expect to get the exact same response a I have read on here. Cut and paste seems to popular with the IRS. Many people rely on SSDI income as their only cash flow – I am one of them. Savings account will only last so long…..

You can find answers to most of your EIP-related questions at the IRS’ Economic Payment Information Center webpage. We also provide information about EIPs that may be helpful to Social Security beneficiaries and Supplemental Security Income recipients on our page, Economic Impact Payments Paid by the CARES Act.

If you do not see the answer to your question, you can call the Internal Revenue Service’s EIP hotline at 1-800-919-9835. The Social Security Administration cannot answer EIP questions about your specific situation.

I have a disabled daughter who’s 7 years old and just started receiving SSI Disability in May 2020 but was approved in January of 2020. I’ve done everything as far as cooperating with Social Security as far as submitting every single document I was asked to submit in order for me to receive her back pay. Due to Covid-19 the entire world has changed therefore she will be taking classes online instead of actually attending school. Due to this drastic change she will need a laptop to complete her assignments however I’m unable to afford one at this time due to income shortages within my household so I was looking fwd to using her back pay lump sum to provide her with her school needs but I can’t get in touch with the person I submitted all of my information to. I’ve called 9 times in one week and still nothing. School starts on September 9th 2020. I’ve also stressed that my utilities are becoming overwhelming and I can’t afford to get anything cut off because my diabled daughter. We need lights, water and definitely have to pay rent so that we wouldn’t be homeless. To top it all off my vehicle has broke down on us so now I’m unable to get my daughter to any important Doctor appointments unless I call Medicaid and they treated us like we were a disease or something last time I called on them for transportation purposes. Due to this matter it has made my daughter and I both extremely uncomfortable. I need help. I need some type of feedback or something. It’s been 7 months since she’s been approved for SS Disability and 3 months since she has received her first Disability check.

sick of seeing call the IRS about EIP. The IRS will tell you that they don’t have any info. If you are on government benefits to just wait. I have been waiting since April and still no payment. Called and explained that I am on SSDI and should have had mine automatically deposited and was told that wasn’t true I had to file a paper return. Somebody dropped the ball on his one. People who need it cant get it or help getting it, and the people who blew it soon as they got it took days to get.

8/27/2020 I also have not rec’d a stimulus deposit. I have been on SSDI since 2000 and have had payment directly deposited into the same account since 2000. Disability is my sole source of income. The IRS Hotline has been absolutely no help! Tired of waiting on the phone just to have someone give NO answers.

  9. Donte

    I never received my stimulus

    • Vonda V.
