“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

I am a retired american living in london, uk…i haven’t yet received the stimulus payment. Could this be because SS sends my SS benefits to a UK bank?

Hi Dan, thank you for using our blog. The Internal Revenue Service, which is part of the Department of Treasury, will be making Economic Income Payments to eligible people. Therefore, we do not have a schedule of these payments. You may find the IRS Get My Payment Frequently Asked Questions web page helpful.

I recieve ssdi benefits and i still havent recieved the stimulus check while others have. The information and updates are very tangent and very much filled with disinformation i dont know what to believe.

My husband and I filed a joint 2018 federal tax return but without direct deposit info; we are both direct deposit SSA retirement beneficiaries. Our adjusted gross income is below $150,000. Will my stimulus check be deposited to our bank used by SSA? I cannot find any info about this situation. Just those that don’t file tax returns and other SS recipients.

My son Thomas w. Nichols has Cerebral Palsy and is on disability social security from his fathers death benefits. He has not gotten his stimulas check and I cant find anything on when and if he will get one. I am his legal guardian and birth mother, Patricia l. Nichols. Thomas gets a check directly deposited to Patricia L. Nichols for Thomas W. Nichols. How can we find out if he will get a stimulas check.

Hi Patricia, thanks for using our blog. Please visit the IRS Economic Impact Payments Information Center to answer your questions about eligibility, payment amounts, what to expect, when to expect it and more. Hope this helps!

I have been on SSD for over 15 years with direct deposit to same account.. no dependents…. why have I not received a stimulus payment? I am a registered democrat… does that make a difference? There are other SSA and SSI people in my state that got payments. I don’t owe the government any money. But I am a Democrat.

People on SSDI STILL ARE WAITING FOR THERE STIMULUS CHECKS AND YOU SAYING ON YOUR WEBSITE THAT WE HAVE RECEIVED THEM IS WRONG WE HAVE NOT. YOU NEED TO GET TOGETHER WITH THE IRS AND PUT OUT TRUE INFORMATION INSTEAD OF MISLEADING INFORMATION. WE HAVE WAITED LONG ENOUGH
