“I want to provide an update to people who receive benefits from the Social Security Administration.

The Department of the Treasury (Treasury) announced on April 1 that Social Security beneficiaries who are not typically required to file tax returns will not need to file an abbreviated tax return to receive an economic impact payment. The Internal Revenue Service (IRS) will use the information on the Form SSA-1099 to generate $1,200 economic impact payments to Social Security beneficiaries who did not file tax returns in 2018 or 2019.

Treasury, not Social Security, will make automatic payments to Social Security beneficiaries. Beneficiaries will receive these payments by direct deposit or by paper check, just as they would normally receive their Social Security benefits.

For updates from the IRS, visit their web page.

Note for Supplemental Security Income (SSI) Recipients:

We are working closely with Treasury to address outstanding questions about our SSI recipients in an attempt to make the issuance of economic impact payments as quick and efficient as possible. We realize people are concerned, and the IRS will provide additional information on their web page when available. Please note that we will not consider economic impact payments as income for SSI recipients, and the payments are excluded from resources for 12 months.”

I think this is BS that half of the people on ssi HAVE NOT received stimulus checks by the date that was given on the irs website! I am assuming it’s NOT coming at all! Yes I filled out all of the information on the irs website. I do also have direct express set up. Of course it has no information when I try to look up the “get my payment”. What really ticks me off is that my fiancé works at the prison.. guess what? The inmates are getting checks!! I am a mother of 3 children that gets survivors benefits because 5 years ago my husband passed away. I feel that it’s totally unfair for jail inmates to get checks.. But a struggling mother or 3 never gets one! Complete BS is what it is! Good luck to everyone else on getting this check.

I have not received my 1,200 stimulus payment. I am disabled and receive SSI and SSDI. I have had direct deposit for years! I do not file taxes as my yearly income for a single person is under 10,0000 a year. I have had the Sam bank account for apx. 20 years.I am disabled. As of May 27 I will be 66. When I entered my info. Online to see where my payment was it said my Social Security no. And Birthday were wrong. All the info. I posted was correct! What’s up and why has’nt my payment been deposited in my account. I am concerned as I read the deadline for stimulus payments ended on May 15

  8. nora j.

why the government will not let dependents over the age who was claimed as a dependent receive the 1200.00 we are us citizen. The reason my son claimed me as his dependent on his tax because he help me out sometimes by paying some of my bills
