woman on laptopIn December, Social Security will launch a new service for my Social Security account holders where the public can check on the status of an application for benefits or an appeal filed with us.

The service will provide detailed information about retirement, disability, survivors, Medicare, and Supplemental Security Income claims and appeals filed either online on our website or with a Social Security employee.

The ability to check your application status will be available online to everyone who has or opens a secure personal my Social Security account. You can open an account on our website.

The service will provide important information about your claim or appeal, including, as appropriate:

  • Date of filing.
  • Current claim location.
  • Scheduled hearing date and time.
  • Incomplete applications.
  • Servicing office location.
  • Claim or appeal decision.

If you are unable to open a personal my Social Security account, you can still call 1-800-772-1213 to check your claim status by using our automated system using the confirmation number you received when you filed your claim.

Providing our customers with more claim status information helps us meet our goal of delivering innovative, quality services to you and helping secure today and tomorrow.

I filed an appeal for a social security survivors benefits in April 2018. I’ve called several times & always told that it’s pending & if they need any more information they will contact me. The last time I called, I was unable to get an answer from anyone. I just want to find out the status of this claim. Thank you

I began an application for disability August 2019 and was unable to finish it because I was without internet for a couple of months so the application was denied, which I never received any notification about. In October 2019 I applied online for disability benefits, completed the application, printed, signed, and mailed the application as directed. I have not received any acknowledgement of receipt of my application and now my application isn’t even showing on my account. Where is my application and what is the status? I have many physical ailments and I am in a great deal of pain and discomfort that prevent me from working or even enjoying life as I use to this time last year and I need assistance.

I filed an appeal regarding my SSI payment on January 8th, 2020. I received back an email saying my appeal has been received. I would like to know the status of that appeal, but have heard nothing from SSA. According to your website I can find the status by going to my social security account, home page. That is not true, I have tried multiple times, there is nothing there. How do I find out the status of my appeal?????????
