Social Security Administration LogoWe are excited to share a preview of our new website coming this year.

SSA.gov is one of our most important tools for providing service. You told us we need to make it simpler and easier to use. So, we created a new design. It was shaped by information we gathered from customer interviews. We looked more closely at how our customers seek information online, and new design best practices.

The new design – we call it our beta website – seeks to improve your online experience, so you can get to the information and services you need faster. We also include new interactive tools, like our new benefit eligibility screener. It’s a convenient way to learn if you might be eligible for benefits, without needing to know what benefit programs are available from Social Security.

We want your feedback

Your opinion is very important to us. We invite you to explore our beta website at beta.ssa.gov and to use the “Feedback” button on the right side of the screen to tell us what you think. You can visit the website on your computer, tablet, and smartphone.

The beta website is a work in progress. Some links you select may take you to webpages on the current SSA.gov. Also, we are still working on the Spanish-language version of the beta website.

What’s next?

We plan to use the feedback we receive from you over the next few months to improve the beta website. Later this year, we will replace the current SSA.gov with the beta website’s design and information.

Thank you in advance for looking at the beta website and sharing your feedback!

The layout of the new proposed website is very clean and easy to navigate, but only to the information highlighted. No information about Ticket to Work or WIPA services is linked on the main page. Providing access to information about these programs is vital to beneficiaries that are looking for information about returning to work or entering the workforce for the first time.

It’d be great if SSA offered legal aid when it has to do with SS. I’m a senior citizen that does not have the funds to hire an attorney to help me garnish my espouses retirement. He refuses to pay even with contempt charges brought against him. Now I’m homeless and in bad health. Where do I go for help???

    • Ann C.

Hi, Sylvia. We are sorry to hear about your condition and your situation. You may be eligible to receive social services from the state in which you live. These services include free meals, housekeeping help, transportation, or help with other problems. To get information about services in your area and find out if you qualify, you will need to contact your state or local social services or welfare office. We hope this helps.

I have a few suggestions for creating any website, that SSA followed near-correct, but not perfect.

    1. Always add a secure Comment field for simplicity. Email is similar to Comment on a server. CHAT is less secure oncertain servers configirations, however is used for emergencies and speed. A box for SMTP port email is more secure than certain public emailing services if organization sets parameters (device near port), and encryption to standard. Email could be called Comment for email, if it is all sent from port 80 or 48, and either organization has universal ISP port switching…or statement using “email” is in a disclaimer for its’ website-of-organizational-mirror is posted in three or more blocks of code

(link-of blue, button-of a border-of at least two sides | popup, sliding popup, swirling popup, footnote, right at the bottom [perhaps directive on top of file or page])

on every page of website (new tier-of-page perhaps).

    2. Organization for public government should electronify over website, to a server, the ability to activate and deactivate all transaction and relation. Accounts, sales, any other relation to a personal identity must be terminated by any party in any contract, at any moment!

    3. Faster password recovery.

Add text verification, email verification, eVerify algorithms, Jack-the-Ripper to IP algorithm, etc…

    4. Don’t EVER typo. It is corrupt. Evil in many ways.

This is all good however, How do I get help getting back to work and keeping my Medicare and Medicaid.

    • Ann C.

Hi, Adam. Whether you are receiving Social Security or Supplemental Security Income (SSI, it is important to let us know promptly when you start or stop working, or if any other change occurs that could affect your benefits. Learn more information by reading our publication, Working while Disabled- How We Can Help. Thanks!

  5. The S.

The revised website offers no reference or link to the Ticket to Work program, which is available to beneficiaries of the Social Security Disability program and Supplemental Security Income recipients. The current home page includes a link to this valuable benefit. While awareness of the program is growing with the assistance of Employment Networks and advocacy organizations, most beneficiaries are unaware it exists and may seek information to confirm it is a legitimate component of their SSDI/SSI benefits. The Acting Commissioner has been clear in the agency’s mission to ensure disadvantage populations have access to benefits for which they are eligible and reduce barriers so they may be able to participate fully in our nation’s economy. Eliminating home page visibility and access to a free program that helps those with disabilities return to work is short-sighted and counter to this mission. For the individual, it reduces even further the likelihood that they find support for trying to work again, protect their benefits, gain confidence, exit benefit rolls and return to a more self-sufficient life.

A phone appointment was scheduled for today and they still have not phoned, advise please?

    • Ann C.

Hi, George. We are sorry to hear that. If you still need assistance, please contact your local Social Security office. We hope this helps.

My Dr. gave me http://www.ssa.gov to apply for extra income of $1350.00 a month while I’m on Disability.

  8. Nanci

How about allowing retirees to make tax withholding changes online? I don’t know why you’ve refused to do this. Forcing people to either mail a W4 or go into an office – if there’s even one close to them- is ridiculous.

    • Elisa R.

      I AGREE WITH YOUR PROPOSAL.

Just when did SSA collect this feedback? I’m a fairly frequent user of the current website I remember EVER being surveyed re: changes I’d like to see in the website to make it easier for me to use. One comment: SSA should update its information re: payment center voice & fax numbers since the current listings are way out of date, most of those numbers aren’t answered any more, nor are voicemails reviewed. Nothing like making it harder for people to get their back benefits paid!

  10. Jane A.

I can’t not get in the SSA even though I have an account. Where do you call for computer help to get in your account? I call the SSA phone help number and wait 40 minutes to have someone answer and all she could say I can’t help you with that.
