With so many services available online through my Social Security, signing up for a secure account will help you conduct Social Security business from home.

With your personal my Social Security account, you can:

  • Estimate your future benefits and compare different dates or ages to begin receiving benefits.
  • Check the status of your Social Security application.
  • Review your work history.
  • Request a replacement Social Security card (in most States).

If you already receive benefits, you can also:

  • Get a benefit verification or proof of income letter.
  • Set up or change your direct deposit.
  • Change your address.
  • Request a replacement Medicare card.
  • Get a Social Security 1099 form (SSA-1099).

    In the day and age in which we live, with government agencies having access to effective and efficient security protocols…there is simply no logical reason why the SSA cannot make the “My Social Security” platform available to those living and working outside of the US.

    Some of us are retired clergy, missionaries, physicians, and nurses who are engaged in helping the poor in developing countries and not being able to access our SS accounts online is a monumental inconvenience.

    The SSA needs to immediately address this matter and establish access for every person who has a valid SSN regardless of where that happen to living or working.

    I would love to “Access My Social Security From Your Home” but your system will not allow me to do that because I live in Italy.
    You have the honor of being the only federal system I am aware of that has this restriction.

    I have a my social security account but lately the last two times I have tried to enter
    When you say you sent the code to see the account it does not arrive at my email.
    I have had to ask on 2 different times
    For a new password and wait for the mail to arrive.
    I hope I don’t have the same problem

    I have put an application for my late exhusbands social security since I live in Canada I have been dealing international social security I have been trying to get a hold of my representative in Baltimore I have not been able to contact her since March 2020 I realize with all the covid 19 viruses there will be delays I keep phoning her number but I receive no reply I do not know if I have been accepted could you help me contact the right person

    One of the requirements for one to have a social security account is to have a US mailing address. This requirement, as I have repeatedly written, is unfair to all the Americans who receive benefits yet live outside the US.
    I know this stepulation is present for security reasons to social security accounts, but this does not make sense. Having an address outside the US does not add any additional security threat.
    I believe this policy needs to be reviewed by social security administration to allow Americans living outside the US to have access to their accounts.
