It is truly disgusting that the SSA securitizes me as surety but only wants to offer $745 to me per month when I retire? So that means I can live in a cardboard box when I retire. Who gets all that money that shows up on Fidelity.com when I search my SSA#? Thank for for eating up my money in this ponsi scheme I was forced into.

I just got married on May 2, 2020, and I would like to have my name changed along with applying for a new social security card. I want to know to what mailing address I can send my application and original marriage license?
    Thank you!

I have a question, my husband and I currently receive SSI. When is our stimulus going to come? My husband received a letter, I didn’t yet. H received his letter Last month, but no payment yet. Can you please help me?

  6. Jan B.

I have not seen the stimulus amount post to my Direct Express account yet, 05.15.2020.
Is there a way to make certain I am even getting the stimulus credit? I’ve been told it should have posted on 05.13. *if* you receive your monthly SSI benefits by Direct Express Card and not by paper check or direct deposit into a regular Bank account.
How do I find out if I will be receiving the stimulus amount? I have put off my Creditors as long as I can. Must know when and if asap!!!

    • Vonda V.

Hi Jan, thank you for using our blog. The Internal Revenue Service, which is part of the Department of Treasury, will be making Economic Income Payments to eligible people. Therefore, we do not have a schedule of these payments. You may find the IRS Get My Payment Frequently Asked Questions web page helpful.

  7. Hazel S.

I receive SSD and I have not filed taxes in 2018-19. Am I eligible for the stimulus payment?

    • Vonda V.

Hi Hazel, thank you for your question. Please visit the IRS Economic Impact Payments Information Center to answer your questions about eligibility, payment amounts, what to expect, when to expect it and more. Hope this helps!

I can’t even find a way to file a complaint online. I have been trying for days to get ahold of the caseworker on my disabled daughter’s case. It took me three days just to get the correct phone number. The phone number on the letter didn’t give me the option to put in the caseworker’s extension.

When i finally got a representative (after holding for over an hour) she wasn’t able to help me because the case was with that case worker: For whom i had the extension. For some unknown reason she couldn’t transfer me to him. I did ask, but she insisted i had to call a different phone number to use his extension and get ahold of him to resolve the issue with my daughter’s case.

Then when i called, he answered the phone. I identified myself and my daughter, and the phone line went dead.

I called again: This time, his phone extension went directly to voice mail

I guess it’s not illegal when the government does it?

I called a random representative after leaving a voice mail on the case-worker’s line. The second representative I got ahold of argued with me, talked over me, and then hung up on me when i didn’t want to hear that i would be getting a call back in a number of hours or days. The reason I can’t take a call-back is because I am not able to answer the phone. I work in a call center. I am not able to take a call when i am at work. SSI cannot assist me. And has nothing in place to assist me. So I basically try to get things done outside of my work hours. The other option is to take unpaid leave just so i can wait all day for someone to maybe call me back? That day? Or maybe tomorrow?Could you maybe try scheduling an appointment so that i can try to minimize my loss of pay?

Meanwhile. I’m trying to file a complaint. And the links on the various SSI affiliated (has “ssa.gov” in the site name, just like this blog) websites don’t actually give you any instructions, directions, or methods to actually file an online complaint. Maybe i’ll go old school and just write a letter.

I asked the third representative i got ahold of how to file a complaint. He again told me that the only way to file a complaint would be to wait all day for that call back. I left my ph#. I don’t expect to be able to answer the phone call, since i will be working. And i have zero confidence that anyone will actually read, much less respond, to this message.

The reason that i have zero confidence in the SSA is that my daughter is disabled. I’ve had to deal with the SSA for over a decade. The lack of care, concern, access to case workers and knowledgeable representatives has always been very poor.

But i’ve been able to vent a little here. I don’t expect any measurable change. I can only hope that i’ve acted and fought against the system enough that my daughter won’t lose her health insurance again.

Considering how often we’ve had to call an ambulance and hospitalize her, that’s the thing that scares me the most. It’s so hard just to keep her insurance benefits intact.
