We take pride in having provided vital benefits and services to this great nation for 85 years.  America has a diverse population with a variety of needs. With our diverse population in mind, we’ve created webpages that speak directly to groups of people who may need information about our programs and services. These pages are easy to share with friends and family or on social media. Here are just a few that might speak to you or someone you love.

We proudly serve wounded warriors and veterans. They made sacrifices to preserve the freedoms Americans treasure. Many of them do not know they might be entitled to disability benefits from Social Security. Share our resources for veterans with them to make sure they get the benefits they deserve.

Social Security plays an important role in providing economic security for women. Nearly 55 percent of the people receiving Social Security benefits are women. With longer life expectancies than men, women tend to live more years in retirement and have a greater chance of exhausting other sources of income.

A woman who is 65 years old today can expect to live, on average, until about 87, while a 65-year-old man can expect to live, on average, until about 84. Also, women often have lower lifetime earnings than men, which usually means lower benefits. Women need to plan early and wisely for retirement and we’re here to provide valuable information to help. Share our women’s page with someone who needs this information and may need help planning for their golden years.

Do you know someone who is just starting their career? Now is the best time for them to start preparing for retirement. The sooner they begin to save, the more they’ll have at retirement. Share our early career resources page with a young worker you know.

These are just a few web pages that are tailored to a specific group’s needs. If you didn’t see your own, please check out our People Like Me home page.

As we mark our 85th anniversary, we look forward to serving America for generations to come!

To the SSI administration, you significantly make me want to kill myself. With how difficult it turned into for me to return forward with my intellectual health, so as to get help.. All the things that turned into so difficult for me to come ahead with and discuss with people… and did it all, with the intention to just close me out and now not take anything seriously. You don’t deliver a damn

You don’t give a damn, do you? You absolutely have no heart.. You, like everyone else, don’t care about my nicely being, so why ought to I? I did all I ought to to try and help myself. My aka poor coverage doesn’t allow me to get higher help.. And for that I’m judged as although I’m now not mentally disabled.

What does one do to apply for Medicare A and Medicare B by mail?

Do you send out hard copy application forms?

To the SSI administration, you seriously make me want to kill myself. With how difficult it was for me to come forward with my mental health, in order to get help.. All the things that was so hard for me to come forward with and discuss with people… and did it all, for you to just shut me out and not take anything seriously. You don’t give a damn, do you? You really have no heart.. You, like anyone else, don’t care about my well being, so why should I? I did all I could to try to help myself. My aka poor insurance doesn’t allow me to get better help.. and for that I’m judged as though I’m not mentally disabled. This is what I get for being honest.. yet I know people you’ve granted, that have lied right to your face. Shame on you… thanks for not giving a damn, and for the reminder of me being only a living breathing nothing

We are sorry to hear about your disability, Elisabeth. If you were recently denied, you may file an appeal within 60 days of receiving the decision. You can provide additional evidence when you file an appeal.

If you need help requesting a review, call us at 1-800-772-1213 for assistance or contact your local Social Security office. Look for the general inquiry telephone number at the Social Security Office Locator. The number may appear under Show Additional Office Information. Please be aware that our call wait times are longer than normal.

Some individuals may be eligible to receive additional assistance from the state where they live; while they wait for a final determination on their disability claim. These services include Medicaid, free meals, housekeeping help, transportation or help with other problems. You can get information about services in your area from your state or local social services office. You can also visit the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services web page for more information. We hope this information is helpful!
