If you are not currently receiving Social Security benefits on your own record and you have not filed for retirement benefits in the past, you can apply for your own retirement benefits online. Our system is set up to take applications four months in advance. We hope this helps.

    I will be 65 in June and need to update my social security card as I changed my last name when I got married in 1999. I am receiving social security statements in the mail with my married name so ss must have it in record. However, when I try to register with my social security online to get a medicare card, It gives me a long list of facts to check and none of them are correct for me.
